Get Your Medical Marijuana Card

You can’t get your Medical Marijuana Card certification from just any doctor. There are doctors specifically signed up for the state registry who are allowed to perform examinations and review medical records to determine if a patient qualifies for a medical card. Getting your recommendation is pretty easy to do once you find a participating doctor.

As of 2019, the State of Florida will no longer accept anything other than a State ID or Driver’s License.
It must be valid (not expired) and must have the correct address that the medical marijuana card will be sent to.

You can’t get your MMJ certification from just any doctor. There are doctors specifically signed up for the state registry who are allowed to perform examinations and review medical records to determine if a patient qualifies for a medical card. Getting your recommendation is pretty easy to do once you find a participating doctor.

A patient must first seek treatment from a qualified physician. Once the qualified physician inputs the patient’s information and the order information into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry, the patient and the patient’s caregiver (if applicable) need to apply for a Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card. Once approved, a patient or caregiver will then be able to contact one of the licensed medical marijuana treatment centers (MMTCs) and fill the order.

The initial Drs visit costs $250.00. The recommendation is valid for 210 days, which is Florida law, and must be renewed at that time.

The renewal is $175 and is also valid for 210 days.

Additionally, the state of Florida charges $75 for the registration which is valid for 365 days.

Having a medical marijuana card will not be a reason to prevent you from getting a concealed weapons permit. The Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Nicole “Nikki” Fried, oversees the state department tasked with issuing concealed weapons permits and has confirmed that becoming a medical marijuana patient after receiving a concealed weapons permit will not lead to the permit being revoked.
